Obituary for Thaddeus Kierzek

Thaddeus “Ted” Michael Kierzek, 64 of Erie, PA passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on March 14, 2022, after his battle with brain cancer.

He was born in Erie on November 21, 1957, a son of the late, Thaddeus Kierzek, Jr. and Rita M. Lubelski and stepson to the late Albert J. Lubelski.

Ted, or otherwise known as “the sweet one”, was a graduate from Tech Memorial High School in 1976. He was employed at Verizon (GTE) for 35 years before his retirement in 2010. During his retirement, he volunteered his time to help his local community and church, St. Joseph Church / Bread of Life Community. He also enjoyed golfing, camping, bowling, do-it-yourself projects and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirate fan and always looked forward to his family trips to Outer Banks. Ted had a heart full of gold and was always there for others in need.

In addition to his parents and stepfather, Ted was preceded in death by his brother David Kierzek.

He is survived by his four children; Matthew Kierzek (fiancé Kellie Vallance) of McKean, Paul Kierzek of State College, Ashley Kierzek of Erie, and Brittany Giannelli (Dan) of Erie; three grandchildren, Anthony, Helena, and Lacey Giannelli; four siblings Michael Lubelski (Lisa) of Waterford, Kate Seroka of Erie, Linda Lubelski of Erie, and Alan Lubelski of Pittsburgh.

Friends may call on Thursday at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. Erie PA 16502 from 3pm until 7pm and are invited to the Funeral Mass on Friday at 10am at St. Joseph Church / Bread of Life Community. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
