Obituary for Shirley Mogel

Shirley Dumbeck Mogel, age 92, of Erie, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, at LECOM Senior Living Center. She was born on December 26, 1928, a daughter of the late Norman and Lois (Boylan) Dumbeck.

Shirley was a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital for over 30 years, starting her career on the maternity floor then moving to the cardiac care unit. She enjoyed bingo, the Pittsburgh Steelers, swinging on the porch, and traveling. During Erie's cold winter months, after retirement, she enjoyed relaxing at their condo in Sun City Center, Florida. While in Florida she also loved experiencing the magic of Walt Disney World. Shirley was a volunteer at the Red Cross, St. George Rosary Society, Kearsarge Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary, and even volunteered as a paramedic on the squad while at Sun City Center, in Florida.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 67 years, Richard F. Mogel, brother Jack Dumbeck (Kathleen), and sister Jean Zielinski (Edward). She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Totleben (James) and Barbara Williams (Gary), all of Erie, and Susan Naculich (Gary) of Williamsport, three sons, Richard N. Mogel (Janet), Jimmy Mogel (Deborah) and Joseph Mogel, all of Erie, thirteen grandchildren, Kevin, Michelle, Jacqueline, Jeremy, Shawn, Amanda, Marybeth, Lori, Sarah, Michael, Jamie, Zachary and Brittany. Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 19 at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 PM and are invited to the Funeral Mass on Thursday at 1:00 pm at St. George Church. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com
