Obituary for Ruth E. (Kilburn) May Barton
Ruth E. (Kilburn) May Barton, age 97 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 8,2022 at Wesbury Retirement Community, Meadville, PA.
She was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on October 17, 1924, daughter of the late Benjamin and Helen (Beckman) Kilburn. She lived in Summit Township, Erie, PA until moving to the Wesbury Retirement Community in Meadville. She loved flowers and birds, and music was the center of her life. She taught piano from her home for many years, was a church organist at the former Wayne Street Methodist Church and then Trinity Methodist Church where she was also church secretary. She sang in a trio with friends since a teenager and later with the Erie Philharmonic Singers.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Ivor W. May (1973), her second husband Donald A. Barton (2020), a sister Peggy Kilburn Stamm, a brother Ralph “Bud” Kilburn and a son Gordon May.
She is survived by her sons Alan May and Kevin May (Janeen), stepchildren, Terry Barton (Pam), Garry Barton (Margaret), Rodney Barton (Fran), Barbara Barton and Paul Barton (Sheila), two granddaughters, Kirsten and Heidi, and eight step grandchildren, Anita, Lisa, Craig, Amanda, Faith, Sarah, Marissa and Terry (TJ), and ten great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 2502 Sassafras Street, Erie, PA, 16502 on Monday from 12 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 2pm followed by the burial at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com
