Richard John Rehberg, 76, of Erie passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27. He was born in Erie on April 9, 1945 son of the late William and Clara (Hodges) Rehberg.
Richard attended Saint George and Cathedral Prep, class of 1963 where he excelled in football and wrestling. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army until his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1970. Following his service he worked as an Ironworker for many years, eventually becoming the business manager of Local 348 where he worked until his retirement.
Richard was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and was involved in many charities and volunteer work, having served on the board of the United Way of Erie County. He enjoyed sharing his hunting camp in Warren, PA with his family and friends where many memories were made over the past 60 years. Aside from his interests in camping and nature Richard was an avid reader and enjoyed politics, photography, gardening, and his dogs.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas, and a beloved daughter April. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Richard Rehberg (Jennifer), Renee Wright (James), and William Rehberg (Marie) and his grandchildren Allison, Lucas, Olivia, Nicholas, and Sebastian, and also his niece, nephews, and dear friends.
Burial and services will be private and arranged by the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.
