Obituary for Norbert Hemme
Norbert Hemme, age 92, passed away in his sleep on June 10, 2022. He was a resident of Springwood Court in Fort Myers, FL. and formerly of Erie.
Norb was born in Erie on March 1, 1930, a son of the late Vern, Sr. and Leona Banister Hemme. He graduated from Academy High School in 1948. He joined the Air Force and served from 1951 to 1955.
He married Shirley Moore Hemme in November 1952 and was married for 58 years until her passing in 2009. They raised three children, Bruce, Pam and Kent.
Following military service, he served as a firefighter and eventually opened his own business. The family moved back to Erie, PA in 1967. Norb worked at Erie Bolt Co. as a CNC machinist until his retirement in 1995.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Moore Hemme, his brothers, Allen and Vern Hemme, and son Bruce Hemme.
Norb is survived by daughter Pamela Hemme of Erie, PA, son Kent Hemme of Labelle, FL, grandson Gary Hemme and great granddaughter Avery Hemme, both of Fort Myers, FL.
Memorials may be made to the A.N.N.A. Shelter, 1555 East 10th St. Erie, PA 16511, where they rescued their loving dog, Casey
