Mary Frances (Heintzel) Margetta, 79, of Erie, Pa, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Erie on August 10, 1942, a daughter of the late, John F. And Mary Jane (Daly) Heintzel.
Mary Fran was a graduate of McDowell High School, class of 1960. She began her career with Eastern Airlines and later worked at the Erie County Courthouse in Domestic Relations where she retired as an Executive Secretary and Office Manager. While her children were young, the family lived on a sailboat in Annapolis, Maryland. Mary Fran enjoyed life to the fullest especially during retirement. She loved to travel, which included visits to her daughters’ homes, Florida every year with her friends, and a trip to Europe with her oldest granddaughter. Mary Fran loved to entertain and cook for her family and friends. She also enjoyed collecting beach glass and gardening. She and her high school "club" girls remained close since graduation. Mary Fran was a member of Sacred Heart Church and volunteered at the Erie Playhouse and Erie Philharmonic. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and sister; her family was the highlight of her life, and she will be missed by so many.
In addition to her parents, Mary Fran is preceded in death by her stepmother, Jean Sterrett Heintzel, as well as many aunts, uncles, and extended family.
She is survived by her daughters, Justina Margetta Tushak Hanks (Andrew), Katrina Dolak (Gregory), and Chandra Margetta-Peterson (Marc) as well as ten grandchildren including Zackary Tushak (Alison), Madeline Jeffords (Stephen), Sophia Tushak, Claire Tushak, Cameron Dolak (Jennifer), Taylor Dolak (Reina), Parker Dolak, Audrey Dolak, Izabel Peterson, and Zoha Peterson. Further, she is survived by her sister and best friend, Jeanne Heintzel Reynolds. Many cousins and friends also survive, along with her dog, Petunia, who did not leave her side.
Friends may call on Saturday at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2502 Sassafras Street Erie, PA 16502 from 9 am until the time of the prayer service at 12:30 pm, followed by the Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 1 pm.
