Obituary for Mary Ackerman

Mary Louise Franz Ackerman age 93, of Erie, born August 10,1927 passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2020 at Saint Mary’s Home, East.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph Franz and Emma Kohymeyer Arnold.

Marylou was a proud Villa Graduate and was very active in many organizations that promoted education. She did everything from PTA President, Parish Council, Rosary Society and Girl Scout Leader. She was a substitute teacher and CCD teacher. She was even a television personality. She appeared many times on the local Jeanne Carnes show promoting parochial schools as well as doing many cooking demonstrations. She always enjoyed cooking and was quite the chef. She was known for her low fat lasagne as well as her low fat strawberry shortcake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan J Ackerman, a sister, Roseanne Franz Kuehner, a brother, James Franz and a daughter, Joann Ackerman Markiewicz.

She is survived by her baby brother, Joseph and a special sister in law, Carol Franz. Mary is also survived by three daughters Cheryl(Walt) Ridgeway, Denise (Tim) Dvorak and Christine (John) Steward and a son, Christopher Alan (Veronica) Ackerman and many grand children: Eric Markiewicz, James and Matthew Ridgeway, Summer (Tim) Pattison and Taylor and Noah Ackerman, and a very special great grandson, Gavin Christopher Pattison. Gavin was the apple of her eye these last nine years. Granny was even known to kick the soccer ball around the kitchen until she got tired and had to stop because she would tell Gavin she was old.
