Obituary for Marian Dietzel (Estes)
Marian F. Dietzel, age 91, of Erie, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019.
She was born in Erie on June 1, 1928, the daughter of the late Denver and Irene (Lester) Estes.
Marian was a licensed practical nurse, retiring in 1993 after thirty-three years at Metro Health. She enjoyed bowling, softball, pinochle, and bingo. Marian was also part of the Ave Maria Society at St. Patrick Church. She enjoyed her many years as a resident at Fairview Manor, where she continued to do many tasks on her own. She will be missed dearly by her family.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Matthis, grandchildren, Kelly Mayhue, Laurie Beale, and Roger Matthis, Jr., a sister, Alice Marie Moodie, two brothers, Floyd Coy and Avery Coy, and her close companion Frank Pontoriero.
Marian is survived by her daughter, Gayle Matthis, grandchildren, Ron, Kenneth, and Pat Matthis, and Sherry Fish (Rick), several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Friends may call on Tuesday at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. from 5 pm until the time of the service at 7 pm. Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 am in the Calvary Cemetery Chapel.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and nurses’ aides at Fairview Manor and Aseracare for all of their generosity and care they gave to Marian.
