Obituary for Madeline Wolf

Madeline Margaret (Giacobello) Wolf passed away at her home with her family by her side on September 5, 2022, at the age of 79. She was a devoted, proud, strong and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.

Madeline was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, and grew up in her childhood home on West Gore Road. She met her husband Gary, the love of her life and soul-mate, in Erie more than 60 years ago and they were blessed to be married for over 56 years; the last 36 of which they resided in Clearwater, Florida. Madeline and Gary taught their children the value of marriage and family, and set examples of what faith, love, devotion, and commitment truly mean.

A life-long caregiver, Madeline’s focus was always on family and helping others. She spent years in nursing and in the medical profession comforting countless patients and their families. But Madeline’s true passion was her family, and she treasured the time she was able to spend with them above all else. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she never missed a special occasion or opportunity to be together with them. She loved to cook, garden, and visit with her loved ones and friends, particularly in the outdoors, and no one ever left her home hungry. Madeline always made sure that her family and friends knew how much she loved them and how proud she was of them. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and who were touched by her love and kindness.

Madeline was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret (Santarella) Giacobello, father, Anthony “Tony” Giacobello, and her sister, Marie (Giacobello) Erhart (husband Mike), and is survived by her sister, Antoinette “Toni” Borden (husband Richard “Dick”, deceased), her brother-in-law Greg Wolf (wife Shirley), her loving husband, Gary, her three sons, Brian (wife Michele), Matthew, and Philip (wife Amanda), and her 5 beloved grandchildren, Alex (27), Kendall (24), Elizabeth (7), Caleb (6), and Xavier (1).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Saint George Roman Catholic Church in Erie, Pennsylvania to be followed by a celebration of Madeline’s life at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Empath Suncoast Hospice Foundation– 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760; (727) 523-2441; suncoasthospicefoundation.org.
