Obituary for Loretta Smith (Golab)
Loretta J. (Golab) Smith, age 73, of Erie, passed away at UPMC Hamot on Saturday, November 20, 2021.
She was born in Erie, PA on March 11, 1948, a daughter of the late, Joseph and Regina “Jean” (Czysz) Golab.
In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her son, John A. Smith, Jr.
Loretta was a graduate of East High School. She was employed by Erie Insurance until her retirement in 2001. She loved to spend winters in Largo, Florida with her husband, sisters, and many friends. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, and doing crossword puzzles.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, John A. Smith, Sr., whom she married on March 21, 1970; her son, James Smith (Becky); daughter, Kelly VanScyoc (Fiancé Dan Kuzma); sisters, Tessie Oosterkamp (Bill) and Phyllis Rebman; grandchildren, Jimmy Smith (Amber), Alexa Smith (Fiancé Conor Colpoys), Danielle VanScyoc, Jake VanScyoc, and Amber Kuzma; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Carter, and Aubree Smith; daughter-in-law, Larissa Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
