Leon “June” Mathis, Jr. 65, of Erie, PA went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2020 at UPMC Hamot surrounded by his family.

He was born in Erie, PA on April 30, 1955, a son of the late Henretta Allen Mathis and Leon Mathis, Sr.

Leon is preceded in death by his brothers, Michael “Mack” Mathis and Charles “Chuck” Mathis Sr.
He was loved by everyone he came in contact with from boxing to the crazy sweet street slang. Most of all he loved his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the kids loved him. Leon was a huge Chicago sports fan especially the Bulls and the Bears, he also loved Ohio State. He loved basketball, cutting hair, and was all for “FAMILY”.

Survivors include his special friend Renae Walker of Erie, PA, three sons, Tyshun “Mooney” Jackson, June Jermaine Mathis, and Dammion Mathis all of Erie, PA, two daughters, LaPorcha Mathis of Erie, PA and Sheila Atkins of St. Charles, Louisiana, three sisters, Rosemary Mathis, Pearl Mathis, and Linda Mathis all of Erie, PA. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many cousins and friends also survive.

All are invited to the visiting hours ‪on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 3 pm‬ until the time of the service ‪at 7pm‬ at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. ‪2502 Sassafras Street Erie, PA 16502‬.
