Obituary for Julia Heintzel (Sardini)

Julia C. Heintzel, 83, of Erie, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

She was born in Erie, PA on November 28, 1938, a daughter of the late, Arthur and Amelia (Battaglia) Sardini.

Julia attended Villa Maria Academy for a few years before having to stay home to take care of her Mother. She was a devout Catholic and volunteered many years teaching Sunday school at St. George Church. She enjoyed collecting antique items, watching Wheel of Fortune and NBA especially her favorite player Lebron James. She also liked betting on Football games with her son, David and attending her granddaughter’s basketball games. Most of all, Julia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very proud of her grandchildren and loved them dearly.

In addition to her parents, Julia is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Heintzel, and her siblings, Arthur Sardini and Shirlee Polanski.

She is survived by her four children, David Heintzel (Sheryl Ziroli), Laura Gannon, Karen Curtis (Pat), and Mary Kathryn Heintzel, grandchildren, Jessica DeJohn (Steve), Carli Heintzel, Jacquelyn Burbules (Brendan), Jon Heintzel, Thomas Gannon, Julie Heintzel, and Trevor Curtis, great-grandchildren, Kyla, Lucy, and Vivian Dunn, Marian DeJohn and Mya Burbules, and many nieces and nephews. 

Friends may call on Monday at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. Erie, PA 16502 from 4 pm until 8 pm and are invited to the Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 1pm at Our Lady of Peace Church.
