Jonathan “Jon” Daniel Freeman, age 38, beloved son of Leslie and Michael Freeman and brother of Christopher Freeman passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2021.
Jon was born August 24,1983 in Erie, PA.
From an early age he followed his older brother’s lead including his passion for hockey and they both played on many local and regional hockey teams.
He graduated from Cathedral Prep in 2002 then attended Niagara University, Lewiston NY earning a BS in Accounting in June 2006 and an MBA in Accounting in June 2010. Upon his 2006 graduation he worked for IBM & Citigroup in New York, NY then relocated to Citigroup in Getzville, NY.
After the economic downturn he returned to Erie and started Big J’s Moving Company with his best friend, Jamie Thomas. He also worked for JP Morgan Chase in Columbus, OH. Jon was an entrepreneur and not the “office” type but over the last several tax seasons he had enjoyed working for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in Erie and most recently for Champion Bolt, Inc. His future goal was geared to establish his own tax firm.
Jon is predeceased by his paternal grandparents: Catherine (Pat) and John Freeman and maternal grandparents, Carol and Robert Portenier and Richard Quinn, three uncles, Ralph (Malinda) Freeman, Thomas “Leroy “ (Tina) Freeman and William (Tina) Harris , and two aunts, Dorothy Lawrence and Erika “Sissy” Freeman.
Besides his parents and brother Chris he is survived by his Great-uncle Denny Freeman, Uncles - Erick Freeman of Dunnellon. FL., Richard (Tony) Freeman, Stephen Quinn and Dana (Janet) Quinn. Aunties- Dianne (Paul ) Matters, Christine “Tina” Harris , Cheryl (Ed) Rekitt, Vickie (Don) Abbott and Lana (Chuck) Kownacki. His aunts, uncles and many cousins will forever cherish the memories they made.
Jon was a kind, loving man with a good heart. He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his family and friends, including his best friend Jamie Thomas and family, his special friend Amanda Goode and their “crew” Jaxon, Sammi and Garren and especially by his dog Duke and the Freeman family dogs, Maggie and Chance.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. Erie Pa. from 9:30am until the time of the service at 11:30am.
