Obituary for John Mantyla Jr.

John Mantyla, Jr., 76, of Parkland, Florida, formerly of Erie, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
 
He was born in Erie, PA, a son of the late, John Sr. And Ellen (Moore) Mantyla.
 
John dedicated his life to service to the Nation.  In 1968, he received a Bachelor’s Degree from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard.  John deployed to Vietnam, and upon his return, joined the Drug Enforcement Agency as a Special Agent, where he worked until his retirement in 1999.  In his post-retirement life, John enjoyed boating in the warm waters of Florida with his family and friends.  John shared his passion for the outdoors with his brother James Mantyla, who along with his parents, preceded him in death.
  
He is remembered with love by his son, Michael Mantyla, and grandchildren, Christopher Mantyla and Jaxon Lasher.
 
Friends may call on Friday December 2nd at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. Erie PA 16502 from 3pm until 7pm and are invited to the prayer service on Saturday at 9:15 am followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Erie, PA.
