Obituary for Jeannette Bouchard (Layton)

Jeannette Ann (Layton) Bouchard, age 83, died peacefully on, September 11, 2021.  Born in Olean, New York on December 15, 1937, she was predeceased by her parents, Cpt. Donald Edwin Layton and June Kentucky (Gowan) Layton Minderler of Allegany, New York.  Jeannette was married for 63 years to her beloved husband, Ernest Nelson Bouchard of Erie, PA they married on January 18, 1958 in Allegany, New York.  She was self-employed and co-owner, along with Ernest, a professional photographer, for more than 35 years, operating Bouchard Wedding Center in Olean, New York.
 
Her passions in life were; her faith, her husband and children, and her family.  She dedicated her entire life to all of them.  She also dedicated her life to feeding and helping the poor.  She volunteered in many soup kitchen and programs that helped the less fortunate.  She considered herself a servant of God in whatever she did. She also loved dogs, birds and whatever critter came her way.  She was so loving, kind, gentle, thoughtful and compassionate.  She was a true inspiration to all those around her.
 
She loved to cook and always made everyone of all ages feel welcomed in her home.  She was a devout Catholic, who prayed constantly, all day, for all people.  She especially loved saying the rosary.
 
In addition to her parents, Jeannette is preceded in death by her step-father, Lawrence Minderler, a sister, Beverly Bernardini, and her cousin, Jimmy Layton.
 
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ernest Nelson Bouchard of Erie, PA. Surviving also are her six children: Donald (Gretchen) Bouchard of Batavia, NY; Michael (Leslie) Bouchard of Granite Bay, CA; Debra Bouchard of Richmond, VA; Robert (Lori Sue) Bouchard of New Port Richey, FL; Lori (Scott) Neilly of Bradford, PA; and Theresa Bouchard of Safety Harbor, FL,  two brothers; Donald (Mary) Layton of Palmyra, VA; Edwin (Marcia) Layton of Penn Yan, NY, one Brother-in-Law; Leo (Liz) Bouchard of Huntington, AL, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
 
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 pm until 7 pm at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. Erie, PA 16502. Additional calling hours will be held on Thursday from 11 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12 pm at St. Bonaventure Church 95 East Main St. Allegheny, NY 14706. The family has requested that visitors who are unvaccinated please wear a mask.
