Obituary for Jeanette Rhinehart (Smith)

Jeanette (Jeanie) Smith Rhinehart daughter of Earl and Blanche (Patchin) Smith of Ripley, NY passed away on February 20, 2020.

She was a lifelong resident of Bemus Point, NY. She was born in Erie, PA on January 8, 1936. Jeanette got married on April 12, 1953 to the late Clifford (Tip) Rhinehart, who preceding her in death on January 31, 2012. She is survived by four children: Randy (Karen) Rhinehart, Scott (LuAnn) Rhinehart, Michael (Laurel) Rhinehart and Christy Lane. Four grandchildren: Jennifer, Daniel, Amber Kuras, Amber Lane. Eight great grandchildren: Logan, Jaxson, Nui, Grace, Fayth, Elliot, Leland, Oliver. A brother, Harry Smith and three sisters, Janet, Charlotte, and Sandra. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive.

She was a member of Bemus Point Methodist Church and a commissioner for Maple Springs Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, serving on the Auxiliary as well. She was a member of Chautauqua Shores Choir and worked for the board of elections. She retired from Chautauqua County and owned the Summit Lodge in Maple Springs. Jeanette was a life long member of the Vikings Lodge IOV 65 and the Bemus Point VFW Post 557 Auxiliary. There will be a celebration of life for family and friends at the Vikings Lodge lake park on Saturday August 1st at noon. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
