Obituary for Georgetta Sterling

With great sadness, we share that our Lord called his daughter, Georgetta (Pace) Sterling, home to be with him on Sunday, April 24th, 2022, after a short illness. On October 6th, 1954, Georgetta was born in Erie, PA, to Mr. and Mrs. Willie George Pace.

Georgetta graduated from Technical Memorial high school in 1973. The following year she married David L. Sterling and had three sons. Georgetta was a smiling face at many local businesses such as Loblaws, Burger King, and D&K Stores, to name a few. Still, her true passion and calling were helping to raise her grandchildren, an adventure she cherished above all else. She was and always will be an unreplaceable part of their lives.

Georgetta enjoyed browsing secondhand stores, auctions, collecting plants, and reading books. She also looked forward to spending time with her sister Linda when they traveled on various shopping day trips and trying out new places to eat. When out with her daughter-in-law Melinda, they would make a whole day of estate and yard sales with the grandkids. Melinda ended up being the daughter that Georgetta never had, and she cherished all their time spent together.

"NO" was never in Georgetta's vocabulary when she happened across a small dog in need of a good home and, more often than not, resulted in her caring for several dogs simultaneously. She was optimistic that she saw everyone's potential and would go out of her way to help anyone in any way, regardless of what she was doing. She was the one person you could count on in any situation. She will be sadly missed every day by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, David L. Sterling (2021), her brother William "Glenn" Pace (2011), Brother-in-law Ronald R. Heeter (2010), and her father, Willie G. Pace (1983).

She is survived by her mother Doris (Pace) Irish and husband Gary Irish, her sister Linda Heeter, her three sons and daughter-in-law David W. Sterling (Melinda Sterling), Christopher E. Sterling, and Daniel G. Sterling, a niece Patricia Laniewicz (Justin Laniewicz), a nephew Ronald Heeter and her grandchildren Naomi, Paige, Leigha, Ryan, and Cade.
