Obituary for Ernest Bouchard

Ernest Nelson Bouchard - age 87 died peacefully in his sleep, on November 28, 2021. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 8, 1934, he was predeceased by his parents, Ernest Nelson Bouchard Sr and Marjorie Elizabeth Gauley DeMarco.

Ernest served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957, stationed Fort Riley, Kansas as a photographer for the General. Continuing to pursue his passion in photography, he moved to Rochester, New York in 1957 and was employed by Eastman Kodak. From there he met the love of his life, Jeannette Ann (Layton) Bouchard, and moved to Olean, New York after their wedding on January 18, 1958 in Allegany, New York.

On April 1, 1960 Bouchard Studio was opened. Together, with his wife Jeannette, they owned and operated the business, which further expanded into Bouchard’s Wedding Center until 1983. A one a kind business in Olean and the surrounding area of the time. In 1989, they then moved to Erie, Pa and opened Bouchard’s Studio there until his retirement. Mr. Bouchard became a multi award winning photographer throughout the state of New York and Pennsylvania. He was also a pen and ink artist. In addition, Mr. Bouchard was a skilled pilot, after being trained in 1966 and 1967 at the St. Bonaventure Air Field in Allegany, New York. Later owning several Cessna planes in the 1970s. He loved his family, golfing, camping, and fishing.

His beloved wife of 63 years, Jeannette Ann (Layton) Bouchard, predeceased him 11 weeks ago on September 11, 2021. Surviving are their six children: Donald (Gretchen) Bouchard of Batavia, NY; Michael (Leslie) Bouchard of Granite Bay, CA; Debra Bouchard of Richmond, VA; Robert (Lori Sue) Bouchard of New Port Richey, FL; Lori (Scott) Neilly of Bradford, PA; and Theresa Bouchard of Safety Harbor, FL. His brother Leo (Liz) Bouchard of Huntington, AL. 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, with many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held for the family at a later date followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Bonaventure Church, 95 East Main St, Allegheny, NY 14706. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany, NY. The Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. is handling the arrangements. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com.
