Obituary for Dolores Snyder (Zacherl)
Dolores Zacherl Snyder died on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Sarah Reed Senior Living Center. She was born in Seneca, PA on August 7, 1933, daughter of Aloysius Maurice and Catherine Griebel Zacherl. She married Paul Joseph Snyder, Sr., on August 17, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion, PA.
Dolores graduated from St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1954 and spent most of her 38 year career as a nurse in Pediatrics at St. Vincent Hospital. Caring for patients was her passion and it continued her entire life.
In addition to her parents and husband Paul, she was preceded in death by her son, John, two brothers, Robert Zacherl in infancy and Edward Zacherl and his wife Lois, and three sisters, Rita Padock and her husband Eric, Virginia Judy and her husband Richard, and Patricia Gates and her husband John (Tony).
Dolores is survived by her children Paul Snyder Jr. (Elaine) of Erie, PA; Mary Jude Duncan of Irwin, PA, and Elizabeth Simpson (Scott) of Manchester, NH. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, Amanda Forinash (Greg), Dr. Charles Snyder (Maria DiFuccia), Michael Snyder (Angela), David Snyder and Mark Snyder (Chelsea); Brian Duncan (Rachel), Rebecca, Clare and Nathan Duncan and Emily Steinkopf; Laura Brophy (James), Jeffrey, Madeline and Patrick Simpson. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren: Miles, Theodore, Marlo, and Jack Duncan, Colton, Joseph and Grace Steinkopf, Mary and Veronica Brophy, and Leona Snyder. Her sisters Mary Grace Ziroli (Arnold), and Bernadette Magura Newlon also survive.
Friends may call at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc in Erie on Tuesday, July 26th from 3 pm to 7 PM. And are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community on Wednesday, July 27, at 10AM. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.
