Cynthia Ann Matheis Fiske

Cynthia Ann Matheis Fiske, 77, of Erie, PA., passed away on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022
following a brief illness.

Born in Erie on November 26, 1944 to the late Edward H. Matheis and Stella Elizabeth (Betty) O’Shea Matheis Ambrose (stepfather Bruno Ambrose).

Cynthia graduated from Academy High School in 1962. She was employed by Gannon University for 42 years, 8 years in the Cashiers Department and the remaining 34 years in Accounts Payable. She retired on January 3rd, 2020. Cynthia enjoyed selling Gannon basketball tickets at the Hammermill Center. The Gary Miller Classic was one of her favorite tournaments.

In addition to her parents, Cynthia was preceded in death by her son-in-law Philip Lynn Hordusky and infant great-granddaughter Clara Lynn Williams.

She is survived by her two children, daughter Heidi A. Hordusky of Warren, PA. and son Jerome E. Fiske and his wife Mary of McKean, PA. ‘Chinch’ loved her five grandchildren very much. They are Ashley M. (Devon) Swatt, Warren, Pa., Courtney L. (Tobias) Williams, Sheffield, PA., Jonah A. Hordusky and fiancé Mary Fiscus, Sheffield, PA., Jon Michael (Alyssa) Fiske, Erie, PA., and Jarrett M. Fiske, McKean, PA. She was also blessed with three beautiful great-grandchildren Harrison R. and Easton P. Williams, Sheffield, PA., and Emmett P. Swatt, Warren, PA. who referred to her as ‘G.G. Chinch’. Cynthia adored her two sisters Pattie (Steve) Stempka, North East, PA. and Mary (Tom) Murosky, Fort Mill, SC. She is also survived by several cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Cynthia enjoyed golfing, gardening, traveling, reading, and shopping. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was the best cheerleader when attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She was truly grateful to be surrounded by her wonderful friends, which she considered her extended family. Cynthia will forever be remembered, by those who love her most, for her never ending loyalty, caring nature, constant support, fashion sense, her own personal sense of humor, and the everlasting love she had for her family and friends.

Friends may call on Sunday at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc from 1 pm until 5 pm and are invited to the funeral Mass on Monday at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 2635 Buffalo Road, Erie, PA. at 10 am.
