Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather

James R. Clark, Sr., age 87, of Erie, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Erie on June 29, 1922 a son of the late Charles and Gertrude Sullivan Clark. James served in the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was employed by Steris, formerly American Sterilizer, retiring after 44 years. He was a founding member of St. George Church. He was an actively involved, dedicated parishioner, assisting in the construction of the school and gymnasium. He also volunteered for many years at the Annual Parish Festival and the St. George Food Pantry. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. George Men’s Council, Legion of Mary and the Kearsarge Lions Club. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Sweeney and Eileen Aubrey and three brothers, George, Joseph and Gerald Clark. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Heidt Clark, four daughters, Mary Ellen Clark Ginn and Carol Nash and her husband Gary all of Erie, Martha Sheeran of Lexington, KY and Amy Saunders and her husband Chris of Columbus, OH. Four sons, James R. Clark, Jr and his wife Diane of Delaware, OH, Edward Clark and his wife Bonnie of Erie, Jack Clark and his wife Lindsay of Alexandria, VA and Matthew Clark and his wife Karen of Erie. Two sisters, Marian Gleisner of Erie and Gladys Campbell and her husband Clifford of Maumee, OH, two sisters-in-law, Alma Clark and Sandra Clark both of Erie and 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. James leaves a legacy of loving kindness and devoted service to those who will miss him most, his wife, children and grandchildren, and to all those who knew him. Friends may call on Tuesday at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, 2502 Sassafras St. Erie, PA. 16502 from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to a service there on Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at St. George Church at 11 a.m. Send condolences to Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. George Church, 5145 Peach St. Erie, Pa. 16509
