U.S. Veteran

Harold W. “Wes” Culver, age 89, of Erie, died Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the VA Medical Center. He was born in Jamestown, NY on August 17, 1922 a son of the late Harold and Helen Hochlander Culver. He was in the Army in WWII and then became a Letter Carrier for the United States Post Office. After retirement, he worked part-time at Quality Markets. He was a member of the VFW in Wesleyville, the American Legion, the Sunflower Club, the Sacred Heart Ushers Club and the Knights of St. John. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Aumer Culver in 1992 and a brother, Howard Culver. He is survived by three daughters, Linda Hokaj and her husband Thomas, Barbara Peterson and her husband Gary and Jan Oshlick and her husband Richard all of Erie, a son, Michael Culver and his wife Vicki of Lehigh Acres, FL, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends are invited to a Memorial and Military Honor Guard Service at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. Erie, PA. 16502 on Thursday at 6 pm. Memorials may be made to the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center Recreational Department, 135 East 38th St. Erie, PA 16504.
