John J. Scepura, 93, of Erie, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Forest City, PA on May 10, 1919, a son the late John and Mary (Lanucha) Scepura. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during W. W. II in the Pacific and Guam in the B-29 outfit. He was the owner of the South Erie Market at 26th and Myrtle from 1962 to 1972 and was employed at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in security where he retired. He was a member of the Ft. Leboeuf American Legion Post #825 in Waterford and St. John the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his five brothers, Stanley, Joseph, Edward, Leo and Raymond Scepura and four sisters, Cecelia Badura, Theresa Gallagher, Felicia Matos and Marian Scepura. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Scepura and his wife, Mary Lee of Grizzly Flats, CA and his sister, Romaine Foor and her husband, Nelson of Erie. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
