Robert F. Smith age 87, of Erie, died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at The Golden Living Center, Walnut Creek. He was born in Erie, PA a son of the late Leo and Beatrice (Schwab) Smith. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. He was the former co-owner of Schwab Wallpaper and Paint Company. A graduate of Gannon College in 1948 and a Gannon Alumni, Life member of the Erie Maennerchor Club and Knights of St. John’s , a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the Erie Stamp Club, Erie Guild of Crafters, East Erie Turners, Asbury Senior Citizens and Sacred Heart Ushers Club. He is survived by his wife, Betty D. (Duberow) Smith. Two daughters, Sharon Kubeja and her husband, James of Rochester, NY and Christel Willis and her husband, Mitchell of Erie. Three sons, David Smith and his wife, Diane of Erie, Gregory Smith and his wife, Margaret of North Stonington, CT and Matthew Smith and his wife, Michelle of Raleigh, NC. Sixteen Grandchildren, five great grandchildren also survive. The family would like to thank, Asera Care Hospice and the staff of the Golden Living Center Walnut Creek for the care that was given to Robert. Friends may call at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St. on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and are invited to attend a prayer service at the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 11:30 followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church at 12:00 Noon.
